GAP Water Sample Pick-Up Route To Begin

We are excited to offer our GAP water sample pick-up program again in 2022. The program provides growers an opportunity to have their GAP water samples routed to the laboratory facility three times a week from two different drop off points – the WPVGA office in Antigo, Wisconsin and the UW Agricultural Research Station in Hancock, Wisconsin.

This service is perfect for growers needing to test their water for E. coli and coliforms, as well as any other necessary analyses.

What is ‘GAP’ Water Testing?

To meet audit requirements, cranberry, potato, fruit and vegetable growers collect ‘GAP’ (Good Agricultural Practice) water samples from irrigation and postharvest water sources from June to September. AgSource’s GAP water program includes testing both coliform and E.coli using the FSMA certified Quanti Tray method for analysis.

Sample Pick-Up

In cooperation with the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA) office, AgSource Laboratories will be picking up samples from their Antigo location every Wednesday at 1:00 PM through September 7, 2022. Free sampling supplies will be available for pick up there as well.

Because of the 30-hour maximum sample hold time, water samples should be taken no earlier than 12:00 PM on Tuesdays for pick up on Wednesday. Beginning June 1, sterile bottles and submission forms can also be picked up and dropped off at WPVGA in downtown Antigo, please call 715.623.7683 before coming to the office.

In addition to the Antigo pickup location, AgSource is excited to announce that sample pick-up is moving back to the , WI twice a week. AgSource will pick-up samples every Tuesday at 11:00 AM and Thursday at 1:00 PM beginning May 31 and ending on September 8.

To stay within the designated holding time, water samples should be taken after 12:00 PM on Monday for Tuesday’s pick up and after 12:00 PM on Wednesday for Thursday’s pick up.
