GAP water testing made convenient this growing season
Expanded sample pick-up route in 2023
We are excited to share that our annual GAP water sample pick up program will be expanding in 2023. Growers can now drop off GAP water samples twice a week at both the WPVGA office in Antigo and the UW Agricultural Research Station in Hancock beginning May 23.
Our free sample pick up service is convenient for Wisconsin growers needing to test their water for E. coli and coliforms, as well as any other necessary analyses. The program will run through September 7, 2023.
What is ‘GAP’ Water Testing?
To meet audit requirements, cranberry, potato, fruit and vegetable growers collect ‘GAP’ (Good Agricultural Practice) water samples from irrigation and postharvest water sources from June to September. AgSource’s GAP water program includes testing both coliform and E.coli. The cost per sample is $38 – growers will be billed after samples are analyzed.
Sample Pick-Up
In cooperation with the Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA) office, AgSource will be picking up samples from their Antigo, Wisconsin location every Tuesday and Thursday at 12:00 PM.
In addition to the Antigo pickup location, AgSource will be offering sample pick up at the UW Agricultural Research Station in Hancock, Wisconsin. AgSource will pick-up samples every Tuesday and Thursday at 1:00 PM. 
Because of the 30-hour maximum sample hold time, water samples should be taken no earlier than 12:00 PM on Mondays or Wednesdays for pickup on Tuesday or Thursday, respectively. Beginning May 23, sterile bottles and submission forms can also be picked up at both locations.
